How To Lose 5 Lbs. In a Week

Weight Loss

Let me start out by saying that this post is not going to include some magic pill or product that will make you lose 5lbs. in a week. All of the tips and tricks I will provide are within your grasp and are attainable as long as you utilize them everyday for the next 7 days. I have also tried (and been successful) at these tips to lose weight and I hope they are able to help you as well!

You do not have to go without meals, or workout 6 hours a day for this method to work. Mind over matter will be the ultimate tool to a successful weight loss. Without further adue let’s get started!

Sleep is one of the tips that comes easily for some and a little harder for others. Did you know you burn calories while you’re asleep? There have been times where I decided to skip out on the gym just to simply rest because that’s what my body needed. Listen to your body because it will tell you when rest is needed. Develop a night routine that will get you in the groove to have a restful night. In order to lose weight you have to sleep. There is no way around that.

Tips & Tricks- try to set the mood. There are tons of apps on Android and Apple phone that provide white noise and soothing sounds to help you with a more restful night. Also relaxing tea! I swear by Yogi Lavender Tea and you can find that at any Wal-Mart or Target for around $4.00

Apple Cider Vinegar

I absolutely love the benefits ACV! This is definitely my second trick to losing 5 lbs in a week. I know A LOT of people hate the smell of Apple Cider Vinegar. I, myself take two tablespoons straight and just chug it with water. If you’re not insane like me, you can dilute your ACV Drink with tea, honey, or lemon. Make sure that you take this everyday as well. Here are some of the benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar:

  • Curbs your appetite. If you are a fan of Intermittent Fasting ACV will be your BEST FRIEND. During my IF days I was able to take my two tablespoons of ACV in the morning around 7AM then begin my “feasting hour” around 12PM, It really works, trust me.
  • Healthier skin. This is just a bonus. Taking in ACV on a regular basis can clear up your complexion.
  • Smaller Waist. Outside of weight loss ACV also allows you to lose inches in your waist. Make sure you take your measurements at the beginning of the week so you’re able to see the difference by the end of your 7 days.

Listen to me. Drink a gallon of water a day! Your body is made up of over 70% of water so make sure you are putting water back into your body on a daily basis. Yes you will use the restroom a lot! But it will help with shedding the weight. Drinking a lot of water will also help in curbing your appetite. Did you know that a lot of times when we think we are hungry, we’re actually thirsty?

Tips & Tricks: Drink a glass of water and allow it to settle for 15 mins. If after that you are still experiencing hunger pains, then go ahead and eat 🙂

Another tip is get a 64oz jug of water and fill it up. Make sure you try to have that first 64oz down by 1pm and use the next 64oz to take in before 7pm if you do not want to use the restroom all night.

Caloric Intake

Take in less calories to lose 5lbs in a week. This one is kinda a no brainer. Your body needs to be at a deficit by the end of the day. This means you should take in LESS calories than what you use on a daily basis. So instead of taking in 1800 calories take it down to 1200 calories. Use an app like MyFitness Pal to track your food for the day. Also stop eating at an earlier hour than usual. I would cut off my feasting hour at 7pm because I wanted to allow my body enough time to break down my food before I laid down for 7-8 hours of sleep.

Intermittent Fasting

There are a few forms of intermittent fasting. Make sure you google or take a look at Pinterest to educate yourself on Intermittent Fasting. Feasting hours are the hours that you eat and Fasting hours are the hours when you do not take in food. A lot of people use this time to drink water, coffee, tea, and ofcourse ACV to curb their appetite.

Don’t be hard on yourself when it comes to workouts. Try 30 mins one day, then move yourself up to 45 mins the next day, and an hour the next. Make sure you focus more on what you’re eating than exercising. Being able to get your body up and moving is always beneficial simply because it places you in a better mood while also burning calories.

Not ALL carbs are bad. There are different ways to get healthy carbs into your diet. Some of my favorites are broccoli, steamed green beans, and sweet potatoes. There are ways to spruce up your veggies to make them taste better. One of my tricks was to place my protein (chicken, fish, shrimp) on top of my vegetable or prepare it in a stir fry dish.

Getting enough protein is vital to help lose weight. Protein makes you feel fuller for more amount of time and also provides your body with what it needs to power through your day and workouts.

I would say to avoid eating out all together but that is not a reality for some people. Instead of avoiding your favorite restaurant take a look at the menu BEFORE heading out the door so you can plan your meal ahead of time. Choose healthier options than the chips and queso (my fav).

Let me know below if you have tried any of these tips and they have helped in your weight loss journey!
