I don’t know about you guys, but our date night ideas usually consist of myself and my husband going back and forth with where to eat, he or I disagreeing, and then making the decision to stay inside and just order takeout because we couldn’t come to a mutual decision. Below is a pic of me at Village Inn for Markaus’ Birthday. We were the youngest people there lol. The food was OK but I was mad I didn’t get as many fries as I wanted. First World problems, right?
So instead of having to bounce ideas off one another every month how dope would it be to create a list of activities we can do for date night instead? Here are a list of 10 Fun and Interesting Date Night Ideas that you will both enjoy!
1. Random Selection
Put a bunch of fun activities in a jar and select one. In order to keep it completely fair you both would need to contribute around 5 ideas for a total of ten. You would need to select the idea well ahead of date night so you both will know how to dress when you get ready. If you need some ideas to see what to put into your jar, go to the idea best friend aka Pinterest and you will find plenty there!
2. Board Game Night With Friends
So maybe it’s time to spice things up a little bit and add some more company to your date night. Get your mind out of the gutter I mean a nice game night with friends! Adding other couples to the mix can bring out another side of you and your mate and it can turn out to be a blast! To make it even more interesting have every couple throw in $5 and the couple who wins will get another date night on them.
Number three is going to be my favorite. Just because you choose a date night away in another city doesn’t mean it has to be expensive. One of my most memorable trips with Markaus was going to Tulsa which is an hour and a half away from us and grabbing a great hotel, and some new to us things to do in the city. The trip total was around $500.00 and it was well worth it. Now if you are a couple with kiddos this will take some pre planning on your part. Once the kids are squared away with friends or grandparents for the weekend it’s all systems go!
4. Plan an At Home Spa Night
Go to Wal-Mart and load up on candles, oils, bubble bath, and your favorite snacks. Having a couple Spa Night can release some tension in your muscles as well as bring you guys closer together as a pair. Pro Tip don’t use lavender oil unless you’re ready to go to sleep! Lol that stuff knocked me out and although it was great, I kiiinda ruined the remainder of date night.
5. Cook Together
In our relationship I am the primary chef. I haven’t tried this one but it is definitely on the table for a Date Night this year. Try to recreate the meal you ate on your first date. If it’s been forever and you guys don’t remember then preparing a favorite meal is just as good.
6. Dreams, Goals, and Aspirations
For sure my #2 Favorite list of ideas. Sharing your dreams with your mate is so awesome! The feeling of letting someone know what you aspire to do and complete during your lifetime is the absolute best. Throw in the fact that they’re supportive and it makes everything better. One of the dreams I like to share with Markaus is my idea of us having an apartment in the Dallas area that we venture to during the summers and weekends. Dallas has been my soul city since I was a teenager but I love Northwest Arkansas. The cost of living and the rate we pay for our mortgage here is pretty much unmatched.
I even went a step further and showed him the type of Weekend Apartment I was interested in. I loved being able to share an idea with him that I’ve had for so long.
7. Visit a Local Downtown Area
There is so much territory around you that you probably don’t even know exists! Get out of your comfort zone and find these places. Googling Things to do in XYZ area is a good place to start. Also ask family and friends about some places they have also visited nearby that you haven’t seen just yet.
8. Create an Indoor Picnic
If you’re a takeout junkie like me, then this is the PERFECT idea for you to have your cake and eat it too. Bring the outdoors inside with an indoor picnic. It’s totally different from sitting in bed, turning on Netflix, eating, and calling it a night. Grab a HUGE blanket, some comfy pillows, and ofcourse food from your favorite restaurant. I am a sucker for comfy clothes. Socks, sweats, and anything that adds an extra layer of coziness to set the mood.
9. Head to a Bookstore
Find out what your partner is into intellectually and what stimulates their mind. Grab some coffee before you go to the bookstore to make it a total adventure.
10. Trampoline Park
Ok so I am not sure about this everywhere, but there is an Adult Night at the trampoline park by our house. Can you imagine how fun it would be to let some calories go and enjoy a good time with your partner in the process? Jumping brings out the inner kid in us all. If you haven’t tried this one I would definitely recommend!
